What do g-strings, body wash, poker straight hair and brazilian’s (wax, not the people) all have in common? They’re all trends that are sooo last year. Replacing body wash is good ol’ soap. Soap is a beauty and hygiene staple and comes in so many different forms. From its humble beginnings in the Roman bathhouses of 312 B.C. — when soap was made out of goat’s tallow, wood ashes and salt — we’ve come a long way. Why liquid body wash is out Ok, so it’s not entirely out of vogue, but eco-conscious shoppers are making the switch back to […]
You may have noticed I’ve been very poor on the posting lately, entirely due to me being completely distracted by my new family member. For that, I’m not sorry! He’s adorable! But whilst I have been spending these last 4 months with my little guy I haven’t stopped thinking about what we’re putting on our skin though. Obviously it’s not all about fake tan and mascara’s now, we’ve added nappies, baby wipes & creams to the mix as well. I got it in my head whilst pregnant, that baby wipes were a massive gimmick. I had decided to shun toxic, […]
I’m going to deviate from face & body beauty care today, to something less spoken of but just as important – looking after your lady parts. I know a lot of you are going to squirm over this post, and yes even I’m slightly uncomfortable sharing, but I can’t not share this amazing product. Whilst I haven’t had a period in 8 months, I have experienced another down-there issue that’s so common with pregnancy. Thanks to all those amazing hormones and changes, protecting and growing your little one, pregnant women experience a range of changes from increased discharge to bladder […]
Sure, getting your fingers working is quick and easy, but using brushes will help take your makeup application from amateur to professional. It’ll make application and blending so much easier and look way more flawless. But where do you start? 1. A foundation brush to really buff the product in and blend it together seamlessly. Here’s a tip I learned from watching a Kylie Jenner tutorial: don’t use the brush like a paint brush, i.e. brush strokes, instead use it to dab/buff out the foundation. Regardless of what you think of her, the girl knows makeup. I tried this method and […]
I’ve been smashing through my Christmas shopping this year and feeling quite proud of myself. As a bonus, all this online shopping has led me to discover some pretty awesome gift ideas that I hope you will find helpful. I’ve put together my list based on things I would like to receive, i.e. non toxic, beautiful and practical. The product life and overall sustainability is also high on my priorities. 1. Give a gift that keeps on giving Oil Burner Everyone loves an oil burner – they infuse your home with your choice of natural scents (I’m loving jasmine and […]
In Australia, over 30 million toothbrushes are disposed of each year, which creates around 1,000 tonnes of plastic waste. Worldwide there’s over 4.7 Billion plastic toothbrushes produced every year. That’s an island of waste right there! We know plastic doesn’t degrade and typically ends up in landfill or worse, the ocean. If there’s a way to reduce your plastic wouldn’t you jump on the chance? Good news – there is, bamboo toothbrushes! Why bamboo? Bamboo toothbrushes are a brilliant alternative. Bamboo is a wonder material. Because it grows so fast, it’s way more sustainable than traditional wood. Technically considered a member of […]
Australia is a pretty fantastic place. We have every climate possible, from the freezing Snowy Mountains in NSW, tropical paradise of Northern Queensland through to the Mediterranean-style climate of Adelaide (and all of the above in Melbourne on any one day). This wide and varied climate and topography makes for some pretty awesome growing conditions. There’s not many fruits or vegetables that can’t be grown here. As a result our supermarkets are chock full of an amazing variety of fruits and veggies. Irrespective of the season, you can buy apples and peaches all year round. Incredible huh? Well, not entirely.
I love coffee. I’ve tried to give it up. I know caffeine’s not great for you; your liver doesn’t like it; blah blah blah. But every time I just find myself longing for that warming, sweet yet bitter nectar. I don’t believe in doing anything in extremes, you just find yourself resenting what you’re missing and giving up. I still limit myself to one or two cups a day, but I’ve accepted my coffee habit and decided if I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it guilt free. When I moved in with my partner he brought with […]
