Paleo Sour ‘Cream’

When learning I was lactose intolerant I wasn’t really fussed by having to give up milk, I liked it and all but figured there’s plenty of more nutritious alternatives. However giving up delicious dairy products like cream and ice-cream has been a massive struggle for me. My tastebuds say yes, but my gut says no. Rather than give up on creamy deliciousness, I’ve been researching and experimenting to find acceptable dairy free substitutes. This sour cream recipe has been a godsend for me. It’s really tasty and substitutes amazingly well across a variety of recipes. You can use it raw, […]

mango coconut chia pudding

Mango & Coconut Chia Puddings

Chia puddings are one of the easiest meals you can make. They’re perfect for breakfast as they contain a tonne of long lasting nutrition and energy, but can be eaten at any time of the day or night as a tasty snack. I’ve still got a tonne of mangoes in my freezer from summer so I’m using them to make Mango & Coconut Chia Puddings. Recipes are simply formulas, proving an instructional guide but 100% changeable. Once you have a good one, you can modify and adapt based on your original formula to create new. So this recipe is simply a […]

Chicken Tikka Masala (Paleo)

Paleo Chicken Tikka Masala is always a winner, especially now the weather is cooling down. Whilst the flavours are complex and delicious, it’s surprisingly easy to make. It’s also suitable for fussy eaters as it’s dairy and gluten free and jam packed with flavour. You know how curries are always better the next day? Well for this recipe we make it in the slow cooker, so it will taste amazing from day 1.   Curries are one of my favourite dishes, as you might have noticed. Why do I love them so much? They’re always super tasty but pretty easy to make. […]

make your own deodorant

Make Your Own Coconut Deodorant

Learn how to make your own, all natural coconut deodorant. Natural deodorants are the best! They’re aluminium free, non toxic and completely safe. Because they are so natural, you may find yourself recognizing the ingredients of your deodorant in your pantry. This is brilliant, because it means it’s super easy (and cheap) to make your own. This is my favourite recipe which utilises the power of coconut oil and baking soda. This creates a deodorant paste. Just wipe a pea-sized amount under each arm pit. Because it’s oil-based it will just melt in to your skin, and it easily washes […]

Kombucha 102: How to bottle and carbonate

So you’ve finished Phase 1 of making Kombucha, and you’ve got a tangy, slighty-sweet tea that tastes ok, but not great. I promised you it was a tasty drink and you now you’re starting to wonder if I’m one of those health nuts who calls foul things nice, just because they’re healthy. Phase 2 of the process is where we make kombucha taste great, bottle it and naturally carbonate it. You’ll soon end up with a delicious fizzy drink that I promise you’ll love! Sometimes called second fermentation, but what I call the Flavour Phase. It is optional (some people do […]

Paleo Swedish Meatballs with Creamy Gravy

Paleo-compliant, Swedish Meatballs in a bed of creamy gravy. My partners turn to shop this week, so what have I got to cook with? Mince, chicken thighs and more mince. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on you taste) he has quite simple tastes when it comes to protein. It’s boneless chicken or mince. Both are great I will admit, but it’s hard to come up with something creative every night using virtually the same ingredients. I’ve been on a mission lately to find paleo mince recipes that don’t involved tomatoes. Last week I got Thai-inspired with Sticky Mince Stir Fry and this […]

April: What I’m loving right now

My favourite products, places and things each month. This month I’ve got my favourite recipe to share; two make up products including a new foundation I tried and a brilliant illuminator everyone needs; and an essential kitchen gadget you’ll be kicking yourself if you don’t already have one. 1. Raw Snickers Bar Slice You know when you have a sweet craving where you feel it will only be satisfied for something really naught, like a Snickers bar? I had one of those this month, so I made a raw snickers bar slice. It was everything I hoped for and more. […]

Thai Sticky Mince Stir Fry (Paleo)

Mince meat (or ground beef for my American friends) is one of my favourite meats to cook with. It’s just so easy and versatile. I struggle cooking a steak. Medium rare is great, a little over and it risks going dry and if it’s tough, it’s the worst! But mince, you can play with it, mould it, over cook it, and every time it will come out perfect. It’s the foolproof meat! This weeks dish is a continent away from the traditional European-style mince dishes I normally make. With flavours of Thailand, plenty of fresh vegetables and herbs, combined by a […]

Vietnamese Chicken Noodle Salad (Paleo)

There’s rumors around town that a Vietnamese restaurant is about to open up, which gave me a serious craving for the noodle salads I used to devour when I still lived in Sydney. I don’t often get homesick for the city, but whenever good food is mentioned my heart instantly aches! Sydney’s home to such a vibrant multicultural food heaven and the flavour choices are endless. Ahhh take me back! I conquered this craving/homesickness by revisiting my Vietnamese Chicken Salad recipe I posted a few months back and modified it to create a noodle salad. Don’t you just love a recipe that keeps on […]

March: What I’m Loving Right Now

You know how sometimes you get hooked on a product, item of clothing or food and seem to just devour it for ages? This happens to me a fair bit. When I was a teen I was obsessed with Maggi 2 minute noodles. I would eat them as often as I could, and not much else. Oddly my mum thought I was anorexic (she clearly didn’t check the nutrition content) because I would be eating them once or twice a day. Fortunately I gave up that habit after a month or two, and now I’ve moved to far healthier obsessions. These […]
