I seriously love chia seeds. They’re super nutritious and lend well to so many delicious dishes. They make great puddings because those teeny tiny seeds absorb up to 12x their weight in water, swelling out and creating a wonderful gelatinous texture. Chia puddings are comparable to sago puddings in texture (without the starch). You can add pretty much any flavours you like to them and end up with something edible. This recipe is so simple but tastes amazing. It’s perfect for breakfast or a mid-day snack. Child-Approved Recipe My 7MO loves chia puddings too and they provide a healthy alternative […]
When learning I was lactose intolerant I wasn’t really fussed by having to give up milk, I liked it and all but figured there’s plenty of more nutritious alternatives. However giving up delicious dairy products like cream and ice-cream has been a massive struggle for me. My tastebuds say yes, but my gut says no. Rather than give up on creamy deliciousness, I’ve been researching and experimenting to find acceptable dairy free substitutes. This sour cream recipe has been a godsend for me. It’s really tasty and substitutes amazingly well across a variety of recipes. You can use it raw, […]
Carrot cake with thick, cream cheese icing was always one of my favourite cakes. Carrot completely changes the texture of a traditional cake and makes it something so much more. What I love about carrot cake is down to three things: carrots providing the awesome texture, warming spices and tangy cream cheese icing. Since having to give up gluten I haven’t been able to enjoy this old favourite. That was, until I tried a raw carrot cake at my local health food cafe. Now I can have my cake and eat it too! I’ve scoured the Internet and experimented to […]
Chia seeds have been a staple in Mayan and Aztec diets for centuries. Today, they draw the interest of many people for their health benefits and uses in cooking. It turns out chia seeds are a rich source of nutrients and antioxidants. 1. Chia Seeds Deliver a Massive Amount of Nutrients With Very Few Calories Adding just two tablespoons of chia seeds to your daily diet will give you approximately seven grams of fibre, four grams of protein, 205 milligrams of calcium, and a whopping five grams of omega-3. 2. Chia Seeds Are Loaded With Antioxidants Chia seeds are rich […]
I’m a massive fan of meat, but every now and again I like to give my body and digestive system a bit of a break. This raw spaghetti marinara is so tasty and filling you won’t leave you feeling like you’re missing out. In fact, you’ll feel so satisfied and energised you’ll be wondering how you didn’t get on this raw food thing earlier! Fresh, raw foods are the most nutritious foods you can feed your body. The premise is that heating food destroys its nutrients and natural enzymes, which is bad because enzymes boost digestion and fight chronic disease. In […]
Chia puddings are one of the easiest meals you can make. They’re perfect for breakfast as they contain a tonne of long lasting nutrition and energy, but can be eaten at any time of the day or night as a tasty snack. I’ve still got a tonne of mangoes in my freezer from summer so I’m using them to make Mango & Coconut Chia Puddings. Recipes are simply formulas, proving an instructional guide but 100% changeable. Once you have a good one, you can modify and adapt based on your original formula to create new. So this recipe is simply a […]
My favourite products, places and things each month. This month I’ve got my favourite recipe to share; two make up products including a new foundation I tried and a brilliant illuminator everyone needs; and an essential kitchen gadget you’ll be kicking yourself if you don’t already have one. 1. Raw Snickers Bar Slice You know when you have a sweet craving where you feel it will only be satisfied for something really naught, like a Snickers bar? I had one of those this month, so I made a raw snickers bar slice. It was everything I hoped for and more. […]
I am a massive fan of a little sweet treat after dinner and where my boyfriend doesn’t oblige (TMI?), I reach for a piece of chocolate or a raw dessert. It’s a bad habit, but one I’m in no hurry to break. This soft, fudgy brownie is the perfect ‘little something extra’. It’s nutty, it’s chocolatey, it’s soft and decadent, all while being 100% healthy and super good for you.
Why share one paleo rum ball recipe when I can share two? Christmas is the time to be generous after all! These ones are completely different to my last post. They’re comparable to a classic bliss ball, whereas the last recipe was more like a truffle. Figs, nuts and chocolate are all such classic Christmas flavours, and this is one treat you wont have to miss out on. Suitable for vegans, paleo, rawtarians, dairy and gluten free eaters.
These Jaffa Rum Balls are incredible! More like a naughty truffle than a traditional ball. The chocolate orange flavour is brought to the next level intensity with the addition of rum. I’m salivating as I write this! Lucky I still have a few left in the fridge…
