Manifest Anything You Want

You might have noticed things have been a little quiet on here this week. I’ve been a little preoccupied at my brand new, full time job. I mentioned earlier that I wasn’t working and I’ve been looking hard for a new job but unfortunately, in a quiet market. It’s been tough, I won’t lie. I feel like I’ve sent off a million applications to deaf ears. But now I have a job. A full time one and it’s 100% perfect and required very little effort on my behalf to get it. How did this job just land in my lap? […]

Is Your Ego Out of Control? 4 Steps for Balance

A healthy ego is one that allows you to celebrate your self-worth without losing sight of the fact that others are important too. Being constantly insecure or desperate to establish your superiority is a sign that your ego is in need of some balance. An ego running unchecked and out of control can be damaging to your self esteem and sense of worth. What is ego? Ego means: I, self, or ones sense of self. It’s the identity we craft to give ourselves significance. I.e. I’m Abi, the environmental scientist, girlfriend, daughter, etc. In other words, who we believe we are. For […]

How to cope with change

Happy Monday to all my lovely readers. You have no idea how much it means to me that you stumbled across my blog and chose to stay. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Right now I’m in a period of transition. My life is changing and subsequently, this space will be too. I love the metaphor of a caterpillar morphing into a butterfly. First, the caterpillar digests itself, releasing enzymes to dissolve all of its tissues. Then it reforms itself, before emerging as a new being. They’re fascinating creatures and so perfectly capture how to respond to change. We can either reject […]

Chakras 101

In many spiritual and healing disciplines, and in the world of complementary medicine the words Chakra pops up quite a bit. I know I was pretty confused when I first heard the term. What are they? Is it real?

I’m going to keep this post super simple, just to provide an understanding of what they are and the role they play in your health and wellbeing. We can delve a little deeper later on.

An Interview with Doreen Virtue

In this interview Doreen Virtue covers a few topics, including manifesting and listening to and following through with divine guidance. She talks from her own experiences, making each message easy to apply to your own life. For me, her discussion on divine guidance was a much needed message.

For about a year there’s been a little voice in my head telling me to start a blog. For about a year there’s also been another voice saying “yea right”.
One day, perhaps in a moment of weakness for my ego, I finally did it. Do I still have that second voice in my head every week telling me to delete it? You bet I do!

As much as it terrifies me having this blog, I need to trust that there’s a reason this idea was put in my head.

How can you tell the difference between divine guidance and your ego? Doreen discusses that too. Basically though, divine guidance is in the third person, “this is what you need to do” or “you can do this”, compared to the ego which is first person, “I can’t do this. I’m going to fail”.

Spirituality Matters

It was never my desire to get spiritual. That stuff is for whacked out hippies, which I am definitely not. Don’t get me wrong, I do like some alternative stuff. I’m all for eating quinoa and kale with a side of activated almonds, washed down by a glass of coconut milk kefir… However, spirituality was definitely not for me. After all, I am a very conservative, well-educated professional. Oh how life likes to tease us!

Faker: Living Authentically

This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. – Shakespeare, in Hamlet Sa wat dee Kah, I’m back! Wow, what a trip. I did get plenty of time to relax, reflect and meditate as well as ponder on a few blog post ideas. Perhaps it was all the sunshine or the mango fruit shakes, but my creative juices seemed to be flowing. But I’ve held back on publishing though because, to be honest, some of them still feel too raw. Not a raw, […]

Save the Planet, Buy Locally

Australia is a pretty fantastic place. We have every climate possible, from the freezing Snowy Mountains in NSW, tropical paradise of Northern Queensland through to the Mediterranean-style climate of Adelaide (and all of the above in Melbourne on any one day). This wide and varied climate and topography makes for some pretty awesome growing conditions. There’s not many fruits or vegetables that can’t be grown here. As a result our supermarkets are chock full of an amazing variety of fruits and veggies. Irrespective of the season, you can buy apples and peaches all year round. Incredible huh? Well, not entirely.
