Sure, getting your fingers working is quick and easy, but using brushes will help take your makeup application from amateur to professional. It’ll make application and blending so much easier and look way more flawless. But where do you start? 1. A foundation brush to really buff the product in and blend it together seamlessly. Here’s a tip I learned from watching a Kylie Jenner tutorial: don’t use the brush like a paint brush, i.e. brush strokes, instead use it to dab/buff out the foundation. Regardless of what you think of her, the girl knows makeup. I tried this method and […]
I’ve been smashing through my Christmas shopping this year and feeling quite proud of myself. As a bonus, all this online shopping has led me to discover some pretty awesome gift ideas that I hope you will find helpful. I’ve put together my list based on things I would like to receive, i.e. non toxic, beautiful and practical. The product life and overall sustainability is also high on my priorities. 1. Give a gift that keeps on giving Oil Burner Everyone loves an oil burner – they infuse your home with your choice of natural scents (I’m loving jasmine and […]
Review of LAVANILA Natural Deodorant Finding a natural, aluminium-free deodorant that works can be a pretty hard task. With all the right intentions you give up your trusty Rexona and embark on the trial and error process of finding an effective, safe deodorant. Sometimes you hit the jackpot, other times you’re paranoid about putting your arms up. I won’t lie, some of them are pretty crappy. So far, from my experience, I’ve found products containing bicarb soda works pretty well. However for those with sensitive skin, it can be pretty harsh. Bicarb soda is very alkaline so can irritate (especially […]
Everybody loves to smell good but so many perfumes on the market today are packed full of chemical nasties, enhancers and preservatives that we really don’t want to apply to our skin. Is there a clean, natural and safe alternative to traditional perfumes? IME Natural Perfumes are hoping to convince us of this. Back when I was at University I worked in a perfume shop and would spend every spare moment testing and sampling. I love perfume and matching a fragrance to a mood or outfit. But now, I’m just not comfortable with the idea of spraying a chemical concoction […]
I traditionally use black mascara’s, but have often read about why brown is a great choice on those with fairer skin or blonde hair. Black mascara doesn’t suit everyone, so this is the answer. The Ere Perez Sunflower Oil Mascara comes in a gorgeous, velvety dark brown colour that accentuates length naturally and compliments fair skins and hair colour. Ere Perez Natural Cosmetics is one of my favourite cosmetics brands. Not only do they make great stuff, they’re also a great Australian company who pump their products full of natural oils, plant extracts and minerals so not only do they work […]
I bet you thought switching to natural makeup and beauty products meant giving up the good stuff, like nail polish. Fortunately, a bunch of like-minded geniuses didn’t want to miss out either, so they created a fantastic range of salon quality, water based, safe and non toxic nail polishes. Hurrah!
Reviewing Lavera Organic Intense-Volumizing Mascara and Soft Eyeliner: Volumising is my favourite verb when it comes to beauty products. For anyone with fine hair, like me, you’ll develop a certain talent for sniffing out the volumising product in any range. Some leave us horribly disappointed, others moderately impressed and some very few will blow our minds, or more accurately, our hair. Volume is not just limited to the hair on our heads either, sometimes amping up your lashes is also equally important. So today, I’m trialing two lush Lavera products: Intense-Volumizing Mascara and Soft Eyeliner.
Right now I’m soaking up the sunshine and natural beauty of Phuket, savouring delicious tropical fruits and coconut in all its glorious forms. If you’re in need of a little tropical holiday, but stuck at home or work, give these raw, vegan & paleo lemon bliss balls a go. Close your eyes and imagine you’re on a tropical holiday. The lemon and coconut flavour will help take you straight there. I love bliss balls. They’re such an awesome, tasty little treat that can double as snacks or dessert. Packed with nutrition, simple to make and totally delicious; what more could […]
Australia is a pretty fantastic place. We have every climate possible, from the freezing Snowy Mountains in NSW, tropical paradise of Northern Queensland through to the Mediterranean-style climate of Adelaide (and all of the above in Melbourne on any one day). This wide and varied climate and topography makes for some pretty awesome growing conditions. There’s not many fruits or vegetables that can’t be grown here. As a result our supermarkets are chock full of an amazing variety of fruits and veggies. Irrespective of the season, you can buy apples and peaches all year round. Incredible huh? Well, not entirely.
I love coffee. I’ve tried to give it up. I know caffeine’s not great for you; your liver doesn’t like it; blah blah blah. But every time I just find myself longing for that warming, sweet yet bitter nectar. I don’t believe in doing anything in extremes, you just find yourself resenting what you’re missing and giving up. I still limit myself to one or two cups a day, but I’ve accepted my coffee habit and decided if I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it guilt free. When I moved in with my partner he brought with […]
