Christmas is my favourite time of year. Everyone is in good spirits, the shops look all pretty covered in sparky, shiny decorations (plus I love Christmas carols), cherries and mangoes are in season and I have a brilliant excuse to go home and see my family.
I had the pleasure of an early Christmas last night with my partner’s family, my ‘bonus family’, since we will be in Sydney for Christmas. Whilst I get terribly homesick for my own family, it does ease the pain have a second family nearby who I love dearly.
Family’s are such a blessing and I adore getting to see mine as often as possible. Family’s come in all shapes and sizes; some are small, some are big, some are loud and crazy, others are reserved, some family’s have one parent, others have four, some family’s aren’t even related! That’s the joy of family. They’re the people you may or may not be related to by birth but they’re the people you choose to spend the rest of your life with.
I love the level of unconditional love displayed at every moment. The kind of unconditional love family’s seem to do best. It’s a reminder to me to love myself the way my family loves me, and to also show that kind of love to others. To love one another this way is the most honourable thing we can do in this world.
Use this day to remind yourself in all the ways you are so incredibly blessed. Consider everything you have, from the people you love, to your experiences and accomplishments.
Spend the day appreciating those you love the most.
I hope you have a wonderful day, surrounded by the ones you love.
I’m going home to Sydney to spend Christmas with my family, then will be heading off to Malaysia and Sri Lanka for two and a bit weeks. I’m super excited! But as a result, I might get a little light on posting.
