Tried & Tested: Inika’s BB Cream

With 80% organic ingredients (the highest percentage of any BB Cream), Inika Certified Organic BB Cream is a three-in-one formula to simplify your mornings, naturally. This BB Cream combines a silky primer, moisturiser, and foundation all in one convenient pump pack.

Inika Certified Organic BB Cream contains natural Prickly Pear, Pomegranate Oil, Avocado and Jojoba Oils to keep the skin hydrated and plump all day. This formula works wonderfully with the warmth of the fingertips, blending into a seamless finish.

Prickly Pear Oil moisturises and softens the skin, intensely hydrating the skin. It is deeply penetrating – helping create soft, younger looking skin. Tightens pores and has essential fatty acids to help keep the collagen layer of your skin moist and healthy.

It also contains natural antioxidants, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals to keep skin luminous and healthy. It melts into skin, making it easy to apply.

Note, it doesn’t contain an SPF so pop a sunscreen on underneath if you plan on being in the sun.

Application

Apply with fingertips as you would moisturiser or use the Inika Blending Brush for a more precise application. I use a foundation brush. Use alone or finish with a mineral foundation.

Note: I have been applying a primer underneath as I find it makes any BB Cream/foundation go on more smoothly. I know all these BB Cream manufacturers say they contain a primer so technically you can skip it, but extra primer is my preference.

Feels velvety soft and very lightweight when applied. This is one of the major advantages of using a BB Cream rather than a foundation. Foundations tend to be ‘thicker’ feeling and can often feel or look cakey. BB Creams are designed to feel lightweight, and this Inika BB Cream does exactly that.

Also, because of it’s moisturising ingredients, my skin stays feeling soft all day long (and even after it comes off at the end).

All Inika mineral cosmetics are non-comedogenic and won’t aggravate your skin.

Coverage

Light to medium coverage. I use 2 pumps to get a glowing, even finish. It brightens, smooths and evens my complexion but doesn’t hide freckles. I don’t think it’s really buildable either, if you want more coverage on problem spots you’re better off adding a touch of concealor directly to the spots.

For comparison, Inika’s BB Cream provides more coverage than 100% Pure’s, but less than La Mav‘s. If you prefer a full coverage BB Cream, I recommend La Mav’s.

Finish

Luminous, velvety finish. More dewy than the matte Benecos or La Mav products, but probably a little less than 100% Pure. It sets to a skin-like satin finish which can be altered depending on the primer or powders you pair with it.

If you have oily skin you might like to add a dusting of mineral powder. on your T-zone to tone down the shine.

Longevity

It doesn’t cling to my dry patches and doesn’t “melt” off my face in the warmer weather. My skin stays looking in tip top shape all day long. Perfect!

Best for…

Marketed as being suitable for all skin types, but we all know that a ‘one-size fits all’ approach to makeup never works! I would recommend this Inika BB Cream for:

  • Normal to dry skin – you’ll love the moisturising ingredients
  • Aging or dull skin – the illuminating finish will brighten up your complexion

Value

Buy a 30ml pump bottle for $59 from Flora & Fauna or, $46.75 from Feel Unique (I haven’t used this store before though so can’t vouch for it).

Certainly not the cheapest natural BB Cream on the market! Is it the best value then? Hardly. If you’re looking for value, go Benecos. If you prefer a more luxurious product that really delivers, then I would say this Inika BB Cream is for you.

Final verdict

I love this BB Cream, I would definitely buy it again.
