Berry-licious Chia Pudding

I seriously love chia seeds. They’re super nutritious and lend well to so many delicious dishes. They make great puddings because those teeny tiny seeds absorb up to 12x their weight in water, swelling out and creating a wonderful gelatinous texture. Chia puddings are comparable to sago puddings in texture (without the starch). You can add pretty much any flavours you like to them and end up with something edible. This recipe is so simple but tastes amazing. It’s perfect for breakfast or a mid-day snack. Child-Approved Recipe My 7MO loves chia puddings too and they provide a healthy alternative […]

The Beauty Chef BODY Powder

Tried & Tested: The Beauty Chef BODY Powder

I love a good protein shake. I bought this one in my 1st trimester of pregnancy, a time when I could not stop eating. Baby needs food! I bought it with the hope that instead of reaching for an afternoon snack, second breakfast, or post dinner snack I could just quickly whip-up a protein shake that I knew would hit the spot and support me & the growing life inside of me. Most protein shakes are full of gross stuff, like artificial flavours and sweeteners, and can be pretty hard to digest. The BODY is designed to be different. About The […]

Pregnancy Survival Kit: 1st Trimester

Sure, you’re body is going through a beautiful, natural transformation as it prepares to create life… but while it does that, let’s be honest, you look and feel like s***t. While you’re desperate to do everything as naturally as possible, you really just want to hang out in the McDonalds drive-through. Pregnancy is seriously hard in the 1st trimester and it’s compounded by not being able to tell anyone and receive the support you need. I’m not here to hand out medical advice or to advise on the miracle that is childbirth, but guide you towards some of the stuff I […]

So this happened, around 7 weeks pregnant. Yes, that is a crepe rolled up around banana, caramel sauce, cream ice-cream. I know firsthand how bad the carb cravings are!

Paleo Sour ‘Cream’

When learning I was lactose intolerant I wasn’t really fussed by having to give up milk, I liked it and all but figured there’s plenty of more nutritious alternatives. However giving up delicious dairy products like cream and ice-cream has been a massive struggle for me. My tastebuds say yes, but my gut says no. Rather than give up on creamy deliciousness, I’ve been researching and experimenting to find acceptable dairy free substitutes. This sour cream recipe has been a godsend for me. It’s really tasty and substitutes amazingly well across a variety of recipes. You can use it raw, […]

Raw Carrot Cake with Cream ‘Cheese’ Icing

Carrot cake with thick, cream cheese icing was always one of my favourite cakes. Carrot completely changes the texture of a traditional cake and makes it something so much more. What I love about carrot cake is down to three things: carrots providing the awesome texture, warming spices and tangy cream cheese icing. Since having to give up gluten I haven’t been able to enjoy this old favourite. That was, until I tried a raw carrot cake at my local health food cafe. Now I can have my cake and eat it too! I’ve scoured the Internet and experimented to […]

are superfoods really super

Superfood or super fad?

I don’t normally like to wrag on something that’s aim is to get people to eat better or live more healthily, but I can’t hold back anymore. WTF is up with labelling everything a “superfood”? I’m calling the health food industry out on this one. Generally they come from far away with some weird name you’ve never heard of, and you’re told that without this super food you will waste away starved of the nutrients your body needs. They come with a hefty price tag and promises of a new life. Ahem kale. Some foods are created more equal than […]

Raw Spaghetti Marinara

I’m a massive fan of meat, but every now and again I like to give my body and digestive system a bit of a break. This raw spaghetti marinara is so tasty and filling you won’t leave you feeling like you’re missing out. In fact, you’ll feel so satisfied and energised you’ll be wondering how you didn’t get on this raw food thing earlier! Fresh, raw foods are the most nutritious foods you can feed your body. The premise is that heating food destroys its nutrients and natural enzymes, which is bad because enzymes boost digestion and fight chronic disease. In […]

Mango & Coconut Chia Puddings

Chia puddings are one of the easiest meals you can make. They’re perfect for breakfast as they contain a tonne of long lasting nutrition and energy, but can be eaten at any time of the day or night as a tasty snack. I’ve still got a tonne of mangoes in my freezer from summer so I’m using them to make Mango & Coconut Chia Puddings. Recipes are simply formulas, proving an instructional guide but 100% changeable. Once you have a good one, you can modify and adapt based on your original formula to create new. So this recipe is simply a […]
