best mineral foundation

The best of mineral foundations

Mainstream foundations can carry a range of nasty ingredients, like parabens, petroleum by-products, fragrance, PEG’s, phthalates and even heavy metals. Yuck! Rather than ask you to give them up (I’m not that sadistic) I would invite you all to give mineral foundations a try. Mineral foundations are natures alternative to your standard toxic foundations. But how do you choose what sort of foundation is best for you? Especially when shopping online it feels like you’re entering a mine field of choice!  I consider myself quite the make-up expert. Given my long love affair with the stuff, beginning in my early teens when […]

Recipe: Cashew Milk

Nut milks are a fantastic alternative to cows milk. Cashew milk is mild and creamy so works as an effective replacement for cows milk. The flavour of the milk won’t compete with other ingredients, like your breakfast cereal, so you can enjoy it just about anywhere you would use traditional milk. This recipe is so quick and easy, you’ll never need the store-bought stuff again. I love cashew milk because a) it’s the easiest and fastest to make and b) it’s gentler on my digestion than almond. Unlike other nut milks, you don’t need to strain the cashew milk. Because they’re […]

Eggplant Lasagna

I’ve been experimenting with Paleo lasagna for a while now, with varying success. Once upon a time lasagna was my favourite meal; with it delicious meaty sauce, tender pasta and creamy white sauce. Eggplant makes a delicious substitute for the pasta layers. Texture and flavour wise, they’re completely different. Just as tasty, but different. The eggplant becomes silky smooth when sandwiched between layers of meat sauce, giving the dish an extra dimension of creaminess.

Cheats Chicken Fajitas

Fajita generally refers to any grilled meat usually served as a taco or tortilla. So before all you Tex-Mex aficionados start hating on me, no I haven’t grilled the chicken and no, it isn’t being served with tortillas either. But what else do you call delicious meat, marinaded to perfection, served with capsicums and onion? Fajita will have to do for now! Or course if you have a BBQ or grill handy, please do use it. It will be far tastier. But if you’re like me and don’t have access to one, the smoky paprika in the marinade will be […]
